Celebrity Wedding – Karun Nair and Sanaya Tankariwala
When he wasn’t busy knocking every shot out of the stadium, Kings XI Punjab and Karnataka state batsman, Karun Nair got bowled over by love. The 28-year old cricketer and his long term girlfriend and media professional Sanaya Tankariwala decided to bring in the new decade by tying the knot to strengthen their off-field partnership. We at MHM are proud to have been a part of their special day!
Their mixed-culture wedding celebrations took place in Udaipur in early January this year. Karun and Sanaya hail from Malayali and Parsi cultures respectively and they wanted to share their love with their close friends and family with two very distinct and unique wedding card designs.
Karun wanted to capture his traditional Malayali roots with a classic touch in this white and golden invite. The golden lamps and intricate golden borders over a simple white card brought out the essence of the Malayali culture and the card was shared with Karun’s side of the family. The card was accessorised with a vellum sheet with similar golden patterns and ivory envelopes.
Sanaya’s invite was a blend of traditional Parsi design with a modern twist. The card had the Parsi ‘Asho farohar’ symbol embedded in gold on an otherwise contemporary looking card. The invite had minimalistic floral prints as borders and was completed with peach envelopes and a classic seal with both their initials on it. The invites were created for Sanaya’s side of the family.
“One of the biggest challenges for us was balancing our cultures. With MHM’s work, even our families felt involved with the designing process”, Nair revealed in his testimonial with MHM. “Finding card designers that understood both our cultures was really difficult. But the moment we got to the studio, MHM had already prepared ideas for us to choose from.” Sanaya remarked, adding on to Karun.
